Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Chore Bear, LLC ("Chore Bear," "we," "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the Chore Bear app or the chorebear.com website (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to create a parent account. Children under 13 may use Chore Bear only through a supervised profile created and managed by a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on their behalf.

3. Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Notify us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorized use.

You agree to provide accurate information and to update it as needed. We may suspend or terminate accounts that appear to violate these Terms.

4. Subscriptions & billing

Chore Bear is in testing. Cub and Den are planned launch plans; paid plans and trials are not available in the current beta. The following subscription terms apply when a paid plan becomes available. The final offer is shown in the store before purchase.

• Plan, length, and price: Den costs $4.99 per month, or $39.99 per year, in US dollars. Prices in other countries are set by the store and shown to you before you buy.
• Free trial: the monthly plan includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the paid subscription begins automatically and the first period is charged.
• Payment: payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• Auto-renewal: the subscription renews automatically for the same period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Managing your subscription: on iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Chore Bear. On Android, open Google Play, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions. You can cancel or turn off auto-renewal in either place.
• Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple or Google under the policies of the store you bought from, so please contact that store. We do not refund a partial subscription period except where the law requires it.
• Price changes: we may change subscription prices with reasonable advance notice. Changes take effect in the next billing period, and where the store requires it you will be asked to accept the new price first.

5. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the Service. In particular, don't:

• Use it for anything illegal, harmful, or deceptive.
• Upload content that infringes someone else's rights or that is obscene, hateful, or threatening.
• Try to access accounts or data that aren't yours.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or scrape the Service except where law permits.
• Use the Service to harass, exploit, or endanger a child.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you create in Chore Bear (chores, rewards, photos, notes). By using the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, transmit, and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you and your family.

You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights needed to upload it. We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including the Chore Bear name, logo, bear mark, app interface, graphics, and underlying software, is owned by Chore Bear, LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial family use.

8. Third-party services

The Service may integrate with third-party services (such as Apple's App Store and push notification service). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We aren't responsible for third-party services.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time via the account deletion page or in-app settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will do so.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chore Bear and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim or (b) US$50.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations of liability; in those places, these limits apply to the fullest extent permitted.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Chore Bear from any claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Disputes & arbitration

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS in California, except that either party may bring a claim in small-claims court. You and Chore Bear waive the right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action. If arbitration is held unenforceable, exclusive jurisdiction lies with the state and federal courts in San Francisco County, California.

14. Miscellaneous

• Entire agreement: these Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
• Severability: if any provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
• No waiver: our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of it.
• Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction.
• Changes: we may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
